It’s easy to connect and feel at home at Second Unitarian.  All of our groups welcome you to join them for an upcoming gathering.   Sign up for the church newsletter by contacting our Membership Coordinator at 773-549-0260 ext. 11 or secondunitarian@att.net.

Young Adults

The Young Adult Ministry is geared towards people aged 18-35.  We are a welcoming community inclusive of all young adults, regardless of identity.  We aim to bring people together in community and help everyone feel at home within our congregation.

On the second Sunday of each month we meet for a potluck after the second service.   Many Sundays we gather informally for lunch after the second service.  We also hold social justice activities and special social events.

Second Unitarian was designated as a young adult anchor congregation by the Unitarian Universalist Association in 2008 because of the strong commitment to our young adults and the high level of young adult leadership within the church.

We maintain communication through our Yahoo Group.  You can be added to our list serve by going to http://groups.yahoo.com/group/2uyoungadults/join. You can also join the Facebook group by searching groups for “Second Unitarian Church of Chicago Young Adult Ministry.”

GLBTQ Outreach Ministry

The Gay Lesbian Bisexual Transgender Queer & Questioning Outreach Ministry hosts occasional programs, such as Pride Sunday. We advocate for same-sex marriage recognition and other concerns. Programming is open to everyone.

WIDE Community

WIDE Community is a new initiative at Second Unitarian - we are a group called to action - to serve within these walls, supporting our church in being ever more Welcoming, Inclusive, Diverse and Equitable. Guided by Second Unitarian’s purpose, mission and covenant, we will challenge ourselves to examine how to improve these practices so that all are embraced and no one falls through the cracks. Look for our Parenting in Multiracial Families discussion group.  Also, come experience our growing online fellowship at The WIDE Community: http://widecommunity.ning.com.  Sign up and join in - you can have your own blog, share pictures and talk with others about diversity in our community (NOTE: Signing up for the online group does not require you to commit to committee work.)

Adult Faith Development Programs

One of the easiest ways to connect with people in the community, explore your own beliefs and learn more about Unitarian Universalism is to sign up for one of the Adult Faith Development programs.  Our programs are designed to create community and to deepen your spiritual life.  To learn more contact our Director of Faith Development, Gabrielle Parra, at faithdev_2U@att.net or 773-549-0260 ext. 12.
