Letter from the Board 1/1/2025

Dear 2U Friends,

Happy New Year! As we embark on the new year, many of us think of resolutions for the year ahead. Often, the resolutions that get shared around are intended to help us move towards doing things we don’t want to do. But what if we resolved to do more of the things that bring us joy? Even just a little bit more? How might that help us build strength and resilience for the year ahead?

If there are things at church that bring you joy, I hope you’ll take a minute to think about the small ways you can choose them more often this year. Whether what brings you joy is enjoying coffee with friends, making music, exploring art, finding ways to keep learning, working to help others through difficult times, or working with others to make church a welcoming and beautiful place, maybe there is a way you can fit that joy into your plans for the new year.

This past December, our annual cookie sale brought lots of joy! Thanks to the efforts of all of our talented bakers, helpers, and enthusiastic cookie purchasers, we were able to raise $1,527 for the church. Huge thanks to Barb Hailey, Kate Friedlob, and the other organizers who made this possible. Huge thanks as well to all those who contributed to celebrating the holidays at 2U throughout December, through decorating, worship planning, being part of making so many kinds of services possible, making music, and many more things than I can list here.

As we return to church for the new year, we also have the arrival of our new elevator to look forward to! The elevator is scheduled to be delivered the week of January 6th, and its parts and equipment will take up a good portion of the Palmer room for the next three weeks. During this time, we’ll be making alternate arrangements for coffee hour—stay tuned for those announcements each week! Please also excuse our extra dust as construction continues to proceed and those who are sensitive to dust may wish to wear protective masks.

Looking forward to finding joy together as we move into 2025,

—Megan Dunning, 2U Board Chair
