Letter from the Board 7/1/2025
Dear 2U Friends,
I’m Greg Potts, your new Board Chair for the coming year. If we haven’t met yet, I hope we will soon. I’m honored to step into this role and grateful to Megan Dunning for her leadership over the past year and her thoughtful mentorship as I step in.
As the new church year begins, we’re preparing for two significant transitions:
On July 1, Rev. Jason begins his sabbatical, which will continue through October 15. Yes, it’ll be an adjustment—but don’t panic! We’ll be in good hands with the capable leadership of Rev. Allison Farnum, who will join us starting in August.
On July 13, we’ll bid a grateful—and likely teary—farewell to Music Director Carl Kennedy. Let’s pack the sanctuary with love and appreciation. This goodbye is harder, since unlike Rev. Jason, Carl won’t be coming back. He’s headed to a new chapter in music ministry with our friends at DuPage UU Church. But again—no panic necessary—Through the end of the year, we’ll be welcoming back the talented Marianne Parker, who served as our music director from 2010 to 2016.
Looking ahead, the Board will continue focusing on widening our welcome, deepening our spiritual life, and advocating for justice in a time of unprecedented political crisis in our nation. And yes—I’m thrilled that sometime very soon, we’ll begin using our new ramp, our new elevator, and our restored main entrance. Completion dates remain fluid, but we’re getting close. Hang in there! (And I think it will call for a celebration.)
