The 2U Library team is a dedicated group of volunteers who cherish the power of books to inspire, educate, and bring our community together. Whether through carefully selected new additions, engaging events, or creating a welcoming space for all, we strive to nurture a love of reading and learning for everyone. We’re excited to share our passion with you and invite you to explore, connect, and grow alongside us.
Current Members:

What We Do:
We add book materials through purchases using our budget and donations from members, friends, and church committees.
In the process of adding books, we catalog, process, and display our books on the red cart and in library areas — Harding Family Children’s Library and our 2U library.
We provide access to the library remotely through the online public access catalog (ResourceMate). Occasionally, we receive training and online support from this company that helps us with cataloging and labeling.
We present our books’ subjects and titles to other committees and teams with the hope of inspiring use, enjoyment, and enlightenment. We invite suggestions for books to add.
We maintain the collection by withdrawing old, lost, outdated, or less-used materials.
For several years, we have maintained a Sanctuary Library of frequently banned titles. Our banned book club meets monthly for tea and discussion. One such book, Lawn Boy, was featured in a recent library reading event.
We provide activities such as book readings with discussion, silent reading times with discussion, book swaps, and an authors and artists show. Snacks are provided on these occasions.
We create an inviting atmosphere through furniture, accessories, and lighting. Shelves are dusted, floors vacuumed, and materials left by users are returned or discarded.
We complete annual reports, prepare budgets, and advocate to keep the library a stable and usable space for learning, browsing, and contemplation.
Library team members report monthly at the Council meeting and yearly on the last Sunday of September.
Members take turns representing the library in new member orientations as requested by the Membership Team.
Meeting Details:
We have one in-person meeting per year. When needed, we meet via Zoom or individually in person. Communication often happens through email, text, phone, or Zoom.
