On Saturday, November 15, ARMM is organizing a visit to Chicago's only National Historic Park, the Pullman National Historic Park Site. The site's rich history includes labor, civil rights, technology and business history, and the NPS tour guides are excellent. The tour is at 1 pm and lasts about an hour. In addition, there is a small museum on site which is very interesting. The entire facility, including the tour, is free.
There are a couple of ways to participate:
Meet for lunch at Lexington Betty's, 756 E 111th St, for BBQ about 11:30 a.m. and then go over to the Historic Park.
If you want to go directly to the Historic Park (610 E 111th St), please plan to be there between 12:30 and 1 pm in order to be there for the tour.
After people sign up (see link below), I will attempt to group people into car pools, possibly from 2U or in other neighborhoods depending on need and driver availability. It's a good idea to allow 45 minutes for the drive down, and probably closer to an hour for the drive home.
Accessibility: Lexington Betty's has amazing food but they have limited vegetarian/vegan options. Lunch is likely to cost $15 to $20 and you'll have leftovers (or of course you can share a meal with someone else - the portions are generous.)
The tour will be outside unless weather is inclement. There is some walking on flat ground.
Please RSVP using this link so that we can coordinate rides and have some idea of the number of people coming: https://forms.gle/e7ALrsiRdmFJzGtv9 If there is a large group I will let the NPS staff know so they can get us our own guide.
Hope you can join us!
