Mental Health Moment 10/1/2025
World Mental Health Day
October 10 is World Mental Health Day, a day designated by the World Health Organization, “...to raise awareness of mental health issues around the world and to mobilize efforts in support of mental health.” If you are carrying mental health needs, it can feel isolating and scary. The Unitarian Universalists Mental Health Network can be a great resource for UU’s looking for support, understanding, and information and the network is committed to honoring everyone’s unique mental health journey.
Rev. Barbara Meyers, author of HELD: SHOWING UP FOR EACH OTHER’S MENTAL HEALTH, is the current president of UUMHN. The board offers several public (virtual) events including a Mental Health Worship Service in May (I’ll post more about that closer to the date.)
This October, UUMHN is offering two public events:
October 11th, 2 PM Pacific Time (4 PM CST) an LGBTQIA+ Support Group Interest Meeting. A peer-led support group for any adult in the LGBTQIA+ community who has been on a mental health journey. This meeting will be an initial planning meeting for interested parties. Zoom Link
October 25th, 3 PM Pacific Time (5 PM CST) Book Club for THE CENTER DOES NOT HOLD: MY JOURNEY THROUGH MADNESS.
If you have any questions about these events or the network in general, please reach out through this link.
