Money Matters – Canvass and Budget Update

We hope to be finalizing the canvass campaign.  Thanks to all that have made their pledges for our July 2026-June 2027 year.  If you have not yet made your pledge, please make it as soon as possible.

The Finance Committee has been working on a budget for next year and pledges made have a significant impact on this process.  We expect increases in several expenses, such as ministerial costs increasing by approximately $6,000 and for insurance costs.  Committees have submitted 3 budgets:  survival budget, maintenance level budget and desired budget.  Our goal is to receive enough pledges to support at least the maintenance level budget or hopefully the desired budget.

January Results

The actual results for July through January show net operating income, down approximately $10,000 from last month.  This is typical at this time of year due to the Fall Fest and Cookie Sale fund raisers.  We expect the net operating income will reverse over the rest of the year as committees use their budgeted amounts.

January results include $5,300 in expenses from the recent water damage, which included replacing 2 sump pumps, duct cleaning, dishwasher repair, emergency general cleaning, and hauling away damaged materials.  Huge thanks to all those who stepped in on short notice to respond to this emergency!  Your efforts made a big difference in containing the repairs needed.

Actual July to January

  • Total Revenue $ 297,172

  • Total Expenses $ 284,546

  • Net Operating Income $12,626  (excludes special $70,000 donation used to pay off mortgage)

Capital Campaign Update

We currently have approximately $14,000 remaining in expected work to be done.  Remaining expenses includes approximately $1,000 for electrical work, $5,000 for flooring, $6,000 to $12,000 for garden restoration. In addition, we are in the process of getting estimates for installing a hardscaping base for trash carts and further work on the windows in the Loft.

While we are in the final stages of the capital campaign, we are still relying on capital campaign pledges.  Thanks to all who have fully paid their pledge.  If you still owe amounts, we greatly appreciate your payments.

Respectfully submitted,

Diane Sander, 2U Treasurer
